and things get better

so, saturday night i went back to 9 mac (rez last year) for kinda a girls night, and to see some ppl from last year who aren't at u of a anymore. Sooo fun, some of the girls went and bought pop, icecream, brownies, sprinkles and choc and caramel sauce....oh man - it was heaven and a half!! We watched mean girls and runaway jury <-----so impressed by that one, i really want to read the book again now....oh john grisham, such high quality "trash" haha (as i've heard it called). On my way back (a couple friends walked me back to hub...since it was after midnight on a saturday), and we just dropped down to 7 mac on our way (that is where adrian lives....) he was there, but apparently kinda out of it, cuz he didn't recognise me "with my hair down". We talked for a very short time, and then i figured i'd better get back, since ppl were taking the time to walk me. when i got back, i went on msn for a bit, and he happened to be on, so we talked for a bit, and he apologized for not recognising me, and he also asked if i wanted to go to this horseracing thing his floor was going on. I thought it was kinda weird, and i needed to do some reading on sunday, so i said no, but how about a movie in the evening? And so he said he would call when he got back from the horse thing.

So he calls on sunday, after they get back, and we made plans to go see a movie (kinda at random...we didn't decide till we got there) at west ed, after he had dinner w/ his bro. turns out he has a car (mini-van...but w/e its better than the bus), so we drove to west ed, though we got a little lost on the way, adn in the mall trying to find the theatre....but we managed in the end. We ended up going to see without a paddle - soooo funny!!! and then he came back here for a bit, though it was kinda funny cuz one of my roommates was in her house coat and the other was in her pajamas.

The only not so good thing...the boots i bought from kait ('s garage sale), which i thought i woudl be fine to wear...yeah, not so comfortable....my feet were soooo sore by the end of the night, and today i have blisters on the bottom of my feet (kinda a bizzare spot for them), and my ankles feel like jelly. Though don't get me wrong, it was worth it to go on, probably what would be considered my 1st "real" date!!!

oh and just an interesting bit of information....totally off topic, but apparetnly the reason why thalidamide (the morning sickness drug) caused so many birth defects was because they mixed 2 isomers of it (for you non chem ppl...basically the same compound, it just has a slightly different structure), one was fine for treating morning sickness, but the isomer of it caused a ton of problems. and there's your interesting info for the day!

here's to pub crawls...

So, last night i went on a pub crawl with a couple friends from last year. We're sitting there on the bus waiting to leave, and i had noticed this guy who looked super familiar... I finally figured out that he was in my NLS class this summer. He (his name is Adrian) was hanging out w/ a friend(brian) of one of the girls (sabrina) i went with, and so, we ended up talking, and he clued in that he knew me from nls. So, sabrina and brian ended up dissappearing, and so we were standing there talking...got kinda awkward, so he's like well, do you want to go dance...to which i replied sure (of course). We ended up dancing for the rest of the time...at that particular bar, and then my other friend and her b/f wanted to go to cowboys (the last bar on the crawl), so we ended up leaving with them, except we lost brian in the process, so sabrina wasn't super impressed. he was also pretty drunk, so that was a bit concerning. Anyway, got to cowboys, and got the only free drink....sourpuss shot to be exact, of the night. Adrian and I pretty much danced the rest of the night...good times Flirty Wink haha...make of that what you will, and he ended up walking me home, which was nice, of course! I gave him my number...so i guess we'll just see what happens.

(hows that for "innocent denice"??)

P.S.

there's a french connection in west ed...who knew?

I figured I was due to update this...

and hey, if it means i don't have to start learning physiology (eek!) thats all that matters!

I think this will be pretty long, so here goes...

So I got up here to good ol' Deadmonton on the 4th and moved into my new place, which i must say was kinda a challenge. I'm living basically in an apartment, but it is still student housing. Its soooo awesome, though it is kinda a shock to have to clean the bathroom, do dishes after pretty much every meal (or they really start to build up - yuck!), and actually cook for myself. I have really good roommates though, which helps alot. So after my parents moved me in, they headed back to Calgary (ah home sweet home), and left one of the cars up here for me for the weekend. (It took 2 cars to move all my stuff, not including the bed, but i'll get to that later). So, saturday night, instead of partying it up like we should have lauren and i went grocery shopping at superstore. It actually ended up being really fun, though I"m not the biggest fan of driving in edmonton.

I drove back to Calgary Monday afternoon to return the car, and I had a derm appt on tues. Tuesday afternoon my mom drove me back up, with the tail end of my stuff (textbooks to sell, a vaccuum etc.). Classes started wed morning, physiology should be good, but alot of stress/memorizing...hot guy from my chem class is in it (*grins*), and a bunch of ppl from my floor in res last year. I have a feeling stats is going to be kinda boring, but pretty easy (*crosses fingers*), and i'm also taking a 1st year bio class...which was sooo brutal cuz the prof kept going on about all this stuff for the 1st years to know...which i found out last year (kinda a waste of time, but anyway). I'm really excited about developmental psych - it should be really interesting, but the prof has all these power point notes, and i hate printing them off...ink is to freaking expensive!!! Math is going to be awesome...(yes i am a geek), and hopefully super easy, though i have forgotten soo much from last year!

ok, so i'm sure you're as sick of hearing about classes as I am writing about them, but really not much else exciting has happened sadly...though i "splurged" and bought a DVD player for our place...and hey, it was only 50 bucks (yeah superstore).

Oh, and I am playing in the concert band here again, which should be fun, except we got a new conductor...this woman, who is kinda crazy, but she has a passion for music, and i guess thats the important thing.

One final thing...if ANYONE wants to come up to edmonton to see yellowcard w/ me on Sat, Oct 23 (though thats prolly right b4 midterms) please let me know...tickets are 22.50 I think.

thats it for now...hopefully the next post will be more exciting!
