so, i've found yet another blog to read (this is becoming an addiction...frick haha). anyway, most of it is generally entertaining, but this particular post is just one of those that makes you think, and really proves that there is true love out there, that lasts a lifetime...
"How often does one get to witness an act of pure love for another human being? Even something as undignified as wiping someone else's nose can be an expression of total devotion. The truth is, love isn't what you see in the movies. Sometimes it isn't pretty. It can be difficult and painful. I can't help feeling, though, no matter what hell that couple has been through over the past year, that they are two of the luckiest people in the world. Why? Because they know for certain they have what so many of us search for and never find...the real thing. "(from trix's post)
if you are curious as to how i found it, it was through rob/clublife...apparently there is some kind of online war going on there too...but i haven't quite figured that out yet...anyway. check out trix...definite enterainment (thats also where the sexy name decoder came from..) ahh good times haha

so there's this boy...
why is it so difficult to fall asleep in bed with another person...even though you are both super tired? all i want is to fall asleep in his arms, because when i'm with him it just feels right...

chick flick moments I want...part 2
8. to be sung to from the bleachers, while he is being chased by security … “you’re just to good to be true, can’t take my eyes off of you” (10 things I hate about you)
9. to have an Elephant love medley in real life…and to be sung “your song” *sigh* oh Ewan McGreggor…. (Moulin Rouge)
10. kiss upside-down in the rain (Spiderman…and the OC)
11. to be sung to on an airplane… “wanna grow old with you” (The wedding singer)

scariest moment of my life to date
So I went out on friday night (after bowling with some OT friends, and one weird guy and another really nice, good looking friend of my friend..haha, anyway). Me and Andrea (a friend from OT) met up with Lauren her b/f and all their eng friends at the Armory, and waited like seriously, no joke 2 hours to get in. Finally we gave up, but a couple of them talked to the manager dude, and somehow got us in for free b/c the bouncers were being jerks, AND 4 free drinks EACH (there were 9 of us...thats alot of $ to lose!). Anyway, had a fun hour and a half there, and then we decided to walk home because its only about 9 blocks back to the uni, and it wasn't too cold out.
So, we are walking back through the residential area (not whyte ave...which, if i ever walk back from there again, I will definitely walk along - but i'm pretty sure i'm cabbing it from now on), and we ended up spliting up when we left the bar, so its me, lauren, curt (her b/f) and andrea walking back, and curt goes to walk in the middle of the road b/c there is no traffic, and then this SUV comes speeding up, so he moves out of the way, adn they drive by yelling out their windows. Then, they stop like 2 or 3 houses up, and these 4 guys get out (by this time, we kinda all were standing closer together), and the are yelling and swearing as they walk up to us "who's gunna throw the first punch nigger?"...I"m thinking oh my gosh i'm going to die right about now, and so this one guy walks up to curt (who was kinda standing behind andrea), being like "wanna fight, come on, who's gunna throw the first punch?" and then he punches curt in the side of the face, grazing the back of andrea's head in the process. he hits him once more, and then curt falls down all curled up, and andrea's calling the cops, so the guy kicks curt and then they all run off swearing and yelling "northside collesium" I was like WHAT THE HELL?? seriously... so lauren is bent over curt, so i went to see how andrea was doing and she was breaking down on the phone to the cops, giving the adress where we were and stuff, so i go look at curt, and the side of his face, right around his temple, has a baseball sized lump on it. I was like oh my gosh...that is not right...
All curt is saying is what happened to me, what just happened? and so he stands up, and i was like, umm, no! you need to sit down right now, and just talk to me. So, when andrea's done talkign to the cops (none of us got a plate # if you are wondering, b/c 1. the car was parked to far away, and i didn't really want to move closed in case we provoked them and 2. none of us had our glasses on, so we couldn't see perfectly well, plus we had all been drinking. ) we start walking back toward the uni, and curt still has no idea (even after we told him), and all he wanted to do was go home and sleep, so I was like (*lightbulb*) - you need to go to emerg right now buddy (and b/c of how quickly his face swelled up). So we finally get there, and go to check him in, and we see ty and a girl (both of whom we were with at the bar) there too, and ty's face is all swollen up. I was like seriously? this is kinda surreal...considering the same thing happened to both groups of us. freaking scariest thing ever.
so most of us were at the hospital till 5 am checking in the boys, and then filling out witness statements for the cops (lauren and curt, and ty and his g/f --> who got thrown down by one of the guys ended up staying longer...till at least 11am). Luckily all of us that were walking back live in HUB so we could walk together, b/c it was freaking scary - there was absolutely no one around, and so quiet. So curt ended up with a concussion, adn ty broke 1 or 2 bones in his face. Freaking idiots who go around picking fights for no reason. seriously! i just don't get it. we weren't provoking them in any way, just walkign home minding our own business...WTF?? and its not likely that they will catch the guys, b/c neither of our groups got a plate #.
so yeah, pretty scared to walk anywhere once it gets dark out. I went over to bridgets yesterday afternoon to celebrate her bday, and i went to cross the street and this car turned right behind me and just about clipped my heels, adn i just about lost it right then. I"m tramatized for life now geez.

christmas vacation - if anyone cares
So, after the Danny Michel concert I headed home to Calgary. I got to hang out with my favorite people (no offence to everyone else, but its kinda like the silver and gold thing…if you don’t know what I mean, just ask). I went (Christmas) shopping with Kari, Sam and Marnie and managed to only buy a cd for myself…I’m a horrible daughter. Haha well not actually, I made my mom some beeswax candles (which is all she ever asks for), got my dad a best of the beach boys cd, and then got them a gift certificate to café metro. My brother kinda got the shaft, but he didn’t get me anything either.
So yeah, anyway, we were supposed to go out to the bar (me, sam, marnie, kari, and Lauren…I’m pretty sure Ratna wasn’t back until that night), but then no of us really felt like it, so we just chatted and watched christmas movies (ie home alone woo ya). Then I headed off to Winnipeg with the family (WORST DRIVE EVER, especially considering I went to the gym the day before, and sitting for 8 hours a day for 2 days…not really a good idea), to visit my grandparents. It was actually really nice. There was snow, and it was actually a decent temperature…like b/w -5 and 0, as opposed to -30 haha. So we spent Christmas there, and during the whole stocking opening in the morning I felt bad again, b/c I think my mom kinda takes that on herself, and so she never gets very much in her stocking. *sigh*…I will just have to remember that for next year I guess. So yeah, anyway, on boxing day (I missed out on shopping and the family stone…grrrr – girls, you were NOT supposed to go without me!! j/j) we drove up to the whiteshell (a provincial – I think – park north of Winnipeg) for a few days, and stayed in a cabin and went x-country skiing. It was nice and relaxing and soo peaceful. The day we got back to Winnipeg I was supposed to meet cascade for a bit, but we didn’t end up getting in touch…too much phone tag (cascader: I’m sorry again!!).
So, we got back to Calgary on new years eve, so that I could have the girls over for fondue and daiquiris…mmmm soo good!! Thanks again for coming girls!! Oh, and staying up till 5 watching fight club, and reminiscing about elementary (haha…Emily and her boxers lol).
We didn’t end up taking all our Christmas presents to winnepeg, so we ended up opening them on the 1st, when my parents and Eric got back from Louise. It was really kinda nice…had a fire in the fireplace, and my dad got this powder stuff you put in the fire to make the flames change colours….it was sweet! After presents, I went to see Brokeback Mountain with sam, marnie (and hot tub boy/jerk). I really liked it – the scenery was awesome, and the story was actually really thought provoking. I mean (sam and I were talking about this after), they are these 2 guys up alone on a mountain for 2 months. No one else, there is kinda a definite possibility of something happening there. Its also really shocking it got released…I mean, (and I read this in an article somewhere) I’m not sure people are ready for gay love stories. The only thing portrayed in the media b/w two guys is rape. Interesting… anyway, it’s a good story, and shows that even though we think we’ve become more tolerant, we do have a long way to go. And to top it all off, its filmed around Calgary (like canmore area), so the scenery is beautiful, and familiar! Anyway, I would highly recommend it.
I also got to see the “band girls” for bowling and bellinis (thanks for organizing it jenny!), which was a blast, and for the first time in my life, I won at bowling!! Woo go me! And I’ve also come to the conclusion, that there needs to be a joey tomatoes somewhere close to the university…SO SO SO much better than earls, and a nice change from moxies!
I got to see Sam once more before she left when we went out for brunch (sorry I was kinda in a rotten/stressed out mood ladies!!), and then I met with matt, crick and al to talk about camp next year…kinda like an interview actually…so if anyone is wondering – I am going back to camp for one more year, except I won’t be there week 1 b/c I’m still on placement then.
Wow that was really long winded, and probably pretty boring! And if you are still reading this – congratulations – either you really care, or you are just incredibly bored!! Haha
And I’m done.
ps: stop it with the silent lurking!!

I don't know if you guys have been reading waiter rant at all (since I posted about it), but this post is another gem (haha....can't believe i just said that...anyway)...have a read
"I look out the window. The husband’s walking down the street blabbing on his cell phone. His wife follows ten paces behind. I suddenly remember a line from the Gospel, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
This guy’s heart was sitting two feet across from him and he ignored her. No surprise though - his treasure was on the other end of that phone call.
Maybe the guy should’ve married his cell phone. "
People always seem to miss what is sitting right in front of them. Whether it be a loving family, the love of their life, or even the simple beauty of a sunrise or sunset. We just live in way too much of a fast-paced life, and I think we often forget to just stop and smell the roses. I was in winnipeg over christmas visiting my grandma, and we went up to the whiteshell (just north of winnipeg) for a few days to x-country ski, and it is amazing how beautiful it is up there in the winter. and so quiet when i stopped for a minute to just listen. Absolute silence. it was amazing.
