Happy HNT, the rippers, last day of classes and some music

(If you guys haven’t already you should check out the comments on my last post…)
So, first of all – Prince Harry and his strip club antics. I don’t understand why it is such a big deal he went to a strip club with his friends to celebrate the end of his army training. Guys go to the rippers all the time, so why is it such a big deal when a member of the royal family goes? I don’t think that just because you are constantly in the public eye you have to be angelic all the time. Sure you have a reputation to uphold – but I think lots of people would start to wonder, if a young guy didn’t ever go out to the bar, let alone the rippers. It seems like it is perfectly fine for other celebrities to go out and party (sure they get some attention – but it doesn’t really seem to be a huge deal), but as soon as someone in the Royal Family does something relatively normal for their age and gender for the occasion – they are the centre of attention. Are people so desperate to read about what a celebrity is doing that they completely invade their personal life. Are celebrities not allowed to grow up like normal people b/c they are constantly worried about what the newspaper or tabloids are going to say about their actions? That doesn’t seem right.
So anyway, enough ranting. I went out last night to celebrate the last day of classes (whoo – 3rd year is pretty much done. Very exciting. And a little bit scary.) with a bunch of my OT friends. I went over to one of their places first for some pre-drinking, and had quite the buzz, couldn’t really walk straight and had pretty much no balance when we left for the bar (no line, no cover and 2 free drinks…pretty sweet! Not that I needed much more alcohol at that point haha). Ahh fun drunkenness. A invited her gay friend E to come out with us, and he (E) totally reminds us of this one guy in our class, K, who we’ve talked about setting up – b/c they are kinda like the same person (though before last night I didn’t know that K was actually gay – we were just guessing.). So yeah – frickin hilarious, cuz they sorta ended up dancing. Haha good times. That kinda gets me thinking though - why is perfectly ok for girls to dance with each other, and no one thinks twice about it, but then 2 guys start dancing with each other (and by with each other, I mean close, not just beside each other or whatever…) and everyone automatically thinks they are gay? I don’t really understand that one.
I really like going out to the bars here b/c of the whole no smoking by-law. Frickin best thing ever. For once I don’t come home smelling like ass, and wanting to jump in the shower – I can just fall into bed. Smoking is disgusting, and I don’t need to breathe your smoke in when I’m out at the bar. Now, if only cowtown would pass the same kind of bylaw.
I’ve also been doing a lot of thinking about music lately, and how probably before this year I only listened to mainstream top 40 type stuff – which at the moment I really hate. I was listening to the radio a couple mornings ago and Silverchair came on. I had never actually heard any of their stuff before, but I remember back in the day of like elementary/jr high school D.T. (for those that know me, tall basketball player; my bro’s best friend’s older brother) used to listen to them, and I used to think that it was just to much rock for me. I was all into the pop boy bands, and spice girls. (given I still love my BSB!!) I never knew how much really good music I was missing out on – when the performers actually write their own music for starters – until now. J and his buddy C both know so much about music, so hanging out with them is awesome, plus C knows about most of the really good local bands, and shows that are going on – which is sweet too. Pink Floyd. Enough said. Haha
I also went to see this local singer/songwriter chick – Jody Glenham, for her cd release party, on Sunday night, which was amazing. She was like 10 million times better live – her cd is amazing, but it just doesn’t do her justice! Check out her myspace, and website.
And on the topic of music, I’ve also found a couple really good music blogs:

Check them out.
And now, it is time to study and recover from last night…man I hate being hungover haha
