1. Today is my parents 26th wedding anniversary. That is pretty amazing these days. I really hope when I do finally find the man of my dreams (lets be realistic...how about the man of my realities haha), I hope that I will have to opportunity and luck (or maybe just skilled communication) to spend at least that many years with him.

2. While my mom was driving me to work today she randomly drops in the fun fact that she was actually engaged to someone else before she married my dad. Excuse me? You are just bringing this up now? My mom that is probably the most open/talkative person hasn't told me this before...kinda a shock. Apparently he didn't pass her parents inspection so to speak, didn't go to university; wasn't good enough etc. Anyway, I was super curious - I knew she dated someone pretty seriously before my dad, but I had no idea they were engaged - but it seemed kinda inappropriate to pry too much.

3. One of my patients died today. Or last night... well in actuality it was more like Sunday eve...he has been in a coma in ICU for the past 3 days. This is the first patient I have had die. He coded, and was down for an unknown amount of time. He had a progressive neurological disease, and we all knew this was coming, but we thought more along the lines of a couple years or at least 6 months coming. Also really sad b/c of how nice the family is. I feel bad for his wife - she was holding everything together surprisingly well. Anazingly enough, taking into account his diagnosis, this patient was actually able to be an organ donor...so he saves at least one life with a liver transplant, lung transplant, and possible heart and kidney transplant. His pancreas and eyes (still can't get over that one!!) go to research. So as sad as it is, he is able to help other people.
